Albert Migowa

Digital Wellness Educator

Albert Migowa is an honest, hard-working individual with a strategic mindset. He is a trained Counseling Psychologist and currently serves as a counselor with the Red Cross. In addition to this role, he is the Deputy Team lead of counselors in Nairobi County.

Albert has been involved in mental health projects with nationwide scope. He has provided psycho-social support to people in quarantine, operating in Corat Africa and Cooperative University. These efforts were part of a project supported by UNICEF and implemented by the Red Cross and the Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS). Furthermore, he has offered psycho- social support to healthcare workers in Lang’ata Sub-County as part of a project supported by the European Union, Red Cross, and the African Medical Research Foundation (AMREF). He is also part of the “Young Men Resilience program,” through which he provides one-on-one counseling, group therapy, and mentorship sessions to young men between 17-30 years old who are struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. This program is implemented in Mathare.

Albert is also a mentor in the Presidential Digitalent program under the ICT authority, where he has been mentoring since 2017. To date, he has mentored more than 15 ICT graduates and over 200 youth. He provides life skills and career guidance to the mentees. Additionally, he is a mentor with the Emerging Leaders Foundation Africa.

Currently, Albert works as an Emotional Intelligence Facilitator and is a member of the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Network. He has facilitated sessions for over 2000 individuals at various key institutions, including Emerging Leaders Foundation, Kamiti Maximum Prison, Siasa Place, Rotaract Lang’ata, Amboseli Hospitality and Training Institute, Kenya Red Cross, National Youth Council (NYC), Internet Society of Kenya (ISOC Kenya), Coderina, Lifeskills Promoters, StemTrix Thriving Families Kenya, Awareness 360, and KNATCOM UNESCO, among others. Albert is also an Emotional and Psychosocial support consultant.

Albert has collaborated with the Columbia Global Centers Nairobi to develop programs such as “Enhancing wellness with Emotional Intelligence,” which streamed to a global audience monthly in 2022. He has implemented a youth and wellness program series in Kibera with the center.

Additionaly, he is a Community Advisory Board member for projects being implemented by Columbia University. Presently, he is offering Psychosocial Support to victims of Gender Based Violence under a project by Columbia University. Additionally, he holds the role of communication lead at the Internet Society of Kenya and is a certified Digital Wellness Educator. In recognition for his contributions, he was nominated for an award by the Kenya Christian Professional Forum in 2022 under the category of individual mentorship.
